It’s time again for the Game Developers Conference. Here’s my speaking schedule for those of you who might be interested.

Serious Games Summit. Monday-Tuesday, all day, Room 3007, Moscone West.

I co-organized the summit with Ben Sawyer, which means you can blame us if the content isn’t to your liking.

Where Were the Election Games?, Monday, 2:10p-3:10p, Room 3007, Moscone West

A panel with myself, Ben Sawyer, Chris Swain, and Heather Chaplin, reflecting on the relative dearth of election games in 2008, even though campaigns and candidates increased investment in campaign technology.

Game Studies Download 4.0, Thursday 1:30p-2:30p, Room 2004, Moscone West

The fourth edition of the panel of game research findings, collected and shared by myself, Mia Consalvo, and Jane McGonigal. There will be some structural surprises this year, which I think attendees will enjoy.

Learning from the Atari 2600, Friday 2:30-3:30, Room 2007, Moscone West

A lecture about the ways the Atari VCS (2600) prefigured innovations in family and social play we now attribute to the Nintendo Wii. Primary focus is placed on the design lessons we can learn from Atari games of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
