Monetary Policy and the Atari
Yin and Yang on the MIT Podcast

What does the Federal Reserve have to do with the Atari VCS? They are both the subject of this month's MIT Press podcast.

First, Stephen H. Axilrod talks about his book Inside the Fed: Monetary Policy and Its Management, Martin through Greenspan to Bernanke. Then I talk about my new book (co-authored with Nick Montfort), Racing the Beam: The Atari Video Computer System.

It's a good listen, and it'll be up all month.

Meanwhile, as of yesterday Amazon.com seems to have sold out of Racing the Beam, which must be a good sign.

So, of the pair "Federal Reserve" and "Atari VCS," which is the "dark" and which the "light"?

I think the answer is pretty clear there. One sucks up people“s time and energy with pointless manipulation of information, creating addictive obsessions with gaining more points while ultimately robbing people, and the other is a video game system.
