Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.

The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

A Force More Powerful Released

Regime ChangeThe International Center for Nonviolent Conflict and BreakAway Games have released A Force More Powerful, a game about nonviolent conflict. Some of you might remember from last year's GDC presentation and my subsequent opinions about the game.

From the game website:

A Force More Powerful is the first and only game to teach the waging of conflict using nonviolent methods. Destined for use by activists and leaders of nonviolent resistance and opposition movements, the game will also educate the media and general public on the potential of nonviolent action and serve as a simulation tool for academic studies of nonviolent resistance.

The game can be ordered here for $20.

By the way, the image at the upper right is the first sponsored link on the right in the Google search results for "regime change". It seems you really can get anything on the internet.

Looks interesting. It reminds me of Republic: The Revolution (http://www.eidosinteractive.co.uk/gss/republic/), which had a similar theme of swaying public opinion. Republic did allow political actions of violence and destruction, but was also playable in a purely nonviolent way, if I remember correctly.
