Water Cooler Games
Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.
The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

Animal Crossing DS and the music industry

(via Boing Boing) One of the characters in the recently released Animal Crossing DS seems to have a problem with the music industry. It seems that this singer character likes to distribute his songs for free. I wonder if this text is also available on the original Japanese version or was just introduced for the US one (my guess is that it's included on both but I am just guessing. If you can confirm it, please let us know). In any case, my copy of Animal Crossing DS is on its way (I am counting the days, thanks Lik-Sang!).
Update: The New York Times has a full article about this. Worth reading it.
