Water Cooler Games
Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.

The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

Belgium's anti-gaming social marketing
by Ian Bogost December 21, 2006

Obese PlaystationA while ago, we covered some anti-gaming ads presumably run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), but which turned out to be unapproved ads created by their agency (the CDC later confirmed this to me personally).

Well, now it looks like the country of Belgium has adopted the same style of the anti-game social marketing. The image at right (click for a larger version) was created for the Belgian Association for Obese Patients, and depicts a chunky boy climbing a tree to retrieve his wayward PlayStation.
