Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.
The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.
In years of studing alternative computer games, this is the first reference that I find of pedophilic videogames. I guess it should make sense, since their very existence should be quite limited to certain circles. Anyway, it is not a topic that I am interested in exploring, but I think it is important that we know that such thing is out there. Actually, can we draw a line between form and content in these cases? The question should be valid for other genres other than games, and I believe that the answer should be that we need to set some limits for research. That is quite obvious in other academic fields, but I guess it is the first time that I run into such an issue in videogames. Anyway, that's all folks, there are pedophiles playing computer games out there. Welcome to our beautiful planet.
