Water Cooler Games
Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.

The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

Game Developers Conference 2008
by Ian Bogost February 17, 2008
categories: General
I'll be at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week.
This year, I co-organized the Serious Games Summit with Ben Sawyer. It's smaller than previous years, but the schedule is densely packed with goodies. That runs Monday and Tuesday.

I'll be giving a keynote Tuesday at the IGDA Academic Summit.

Then, Jane McGonigal, Mia Consalvo, and I will be reprising the Game Studies Download, where we present the top research findings from 2007.

I used to liveblog conferences all the time. As Jesper noted, it's always hard to do this at GDC. Rather than pretend that I'll accomplish more than I really will, what I'm going to try this year is to blog one session each day, ideally the one that strikes me as the most interesting and relevant to our readers here. We'll see how it goes.
