Water Cooler Games
Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.

The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

This is a bit old, but one of my students, Brian Schrank, made a nice observation about it.

On YouTube you can find this video mock up of a videogame in which the player takes the role of Kim Jong-Il. It's a platformer, but in addition to the common core mechanics like jumping and running there is a "special move" that must be regularly used to get past certain obstacles, such as starving people or the UN -- "ignoring them."
