Water Cooler Games
Water Cooler Games served as the web's primary forum for "videogames with an agenda" — coverage of the uses of video games in advertising, politics, education, and other everyday activities, outside the sphere of entertainment.

The site was maintained at watercoolergames.org from 2003-2009, where it was edited by myself and Gonzalo Frasca. It is now archived here in full.

Seymour Papert in a coma after traffic accident
by Ian Bogost December 20, 2006

Seymour Papert, constructionist learning pioneer and inventor of the Logo programming language is in a coma after being struck by a motorcycle in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Boston Globe has a more detailed story. I'm not sure why I haven't seen broader coverage of this story, but I hadn't seen it before.
