As many of you know, for some time I’ve been operating an aggregator for blogs related to speculative realism. You can view post previews on this site, and there’s also an RSS feed in case anybody is still using RSS readers 😉

It’s about time I revised and updated the list of included blogs. The system gets a bit bogged down when the list is too big, and some of you may have noticed a blog (maybe your own blog, even) vanish from the list. I did an assessment last summer when the page would often fail to load entirely, and removed blogs that seem to have been abandoned or were rarely updated. It’s time to revise the list again, and I’m open to your input. A lot changes in the blogosphere, and I’m sure there are new sites I’m missing and old ones that have been shut down or transitioned to other addresses.

What are the criteria for inclusion? It’s a bit arbitrary, particularly since the term “speculative realism” has become harder to define since 2007. But at a minimum, blogs should be connected to one of the areas of SR (here’s the Wikipedia page, although it’s down today for the SOPA blackout), whether purely in the domain of philosophy or written from other disciplines drawing on one or more aspects of SR. In addition, they should be updated regularly (not necessarily often, but regularly enough to be “alive”), and they should host reasonable and respectful posts and discussions.

The number of blogs I can include in the aggregator without it coming to a screeching halt is limited, so this is an editorial effort at the end of the day. I’ll be going through the current list to check on applicability and activity. If you have suggestions for blogs you would (or wouldn’t!) like to see in the feed, leave them in the comments (warning: including HTML links may flag your comments as spam, sorry about that).

Eileen Joy and I at In the Middle often post about SR/OOO. Eileen is the force behind the Speculative Medievalisms conference, the new journal O-Zone, and so much more …

    Two things:

    1. Thank you for having this aggregator in the first place Ian. It is a great resource and it helps build a sense of community. You rock.

    2. I think you should add Adam Robbert’s blog Knowledge Ecology to the list. Adam is a grad student at CIIS and whose work is firmly in the speculative realism camp. Adam is an amazing blogger who deserves our attention.

    All the best-

I stumbled upon thevariablesession.wordpress.com, a post-anarchist, lacanian, exploration of speculative realism.
