The Game Developers Conference takes place next week in San Francisco. Here’s my speaking schedule for the event. I guess it’s filled with general ire this year all around.

Serious Games Summit
Monday – Tuesday (all day)
Ben Sawyer, Jane McGonigal, and I organize the summit, which takes place on Monday and Tuesday. Monday is devoted to games for health; Tuesday is focused on gamification (don’t worry, we’ve got a measured program, see below).

The Great Gamification Debate!
Margaret Robertson, Eric Marcoullier, Ross Smith, Margaret Wallace, Jesse Schell, Jane McGonigal, Ian Bogost, and Noah Falstein
Tuesday 4:15- 5:15 Room 308, South Hall
A lively debate about the relative merits and faults of the gamification trend.

A Debate: Are Social Games Legitimate?
Nabeel Hyatt, Daniel James, Ian Bogost, Curt Bererton and Margaret Robertson
Tuesday 11:15-12:15 Room 134, North Hall
More pro and con debating, this time about social games. Can you guess which role I’m supposed to play?

No Freaking Respect! Social Game Developers Rant Back
Ian Bogost, Brian Reynolds, Jason Della Rocca, Steve Meretzky, Scott Jon Siegel, Chris Hecker, Eric Zimmerman, Trip Hawkins and Brenda Brathwaite
Thursday 12:00- 1:00 Room 3014, West Hall 3rd Floor
The sixth annual rant session. This year’s event is billed as follows: “We have invited the people who everyone is blaming with ruining the industry: social network game developers. At the rant session, well give social game developers a chance to strike back.” And yet, I’m on the panel. I wonder what I’ll say?

See you all in SoMa.
