In addition to getting to exhibit (and collect two awards!) for A Slow Year at this year's Indiecade festival, I was also invited to do a talk at the conference portion of the event, in a session called "Project Next." Jon Blow, Chris Hecker, Alex Neuse, Paolo Pedercini and I all gave short talks about the new games we each are working on.
Jon gave a thoughtful talk about the kind of adventure game The Witness. Chris explained and justified the single-player mode of his game Spy Party. Alex gave a preview of his studio Gaijin Games' concept title LaserLife. And Paolo did a crazy Paolo thing. Since I've been completely mired in the last stages of so many projects, I decided to talk about a new game that's in its very early stages.
Evan Narcisse filmed the sessions for the Independent Film Channel online, and he's been posting them as they get processed. He's already posted the talks by Alex Neuse and Paolo Pedercini's.
My talk went online earlier this week, and you can watch it at IFC.com, or in a slightly smaller size below. I touch on a number of things in the talk... but for those of you who are familiar with my game work and have been wondering about all this weird philosophy stuff lately, watch for a clearer connection between my interests in game design and object-oriented ontology.
